EDUCATION:

South Korea has increasingly been attracting international students into their undergraduate, graduate and research programmes.

There are about 400 National and private universities and some universities have state of the art research facilities in several emerging scientific fields.

Our office has connected Korea’s top Universities such as Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Yonsei University and Seoul National University to the leading universities in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by facilitating signing of MoU’s on joint collaboration and student exchange programs.  Additionally, our office has also been successful in pursuing two prestigious Universities in Hyderabad namely the University of Hyderabad and the English and Foreign Languages University in admitting Korean nationals to their University on a 50% concessional fee.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

South Korea offers many scholarships that are provided by the Korean government as well as by Institutional organizations. Some scholarships are meant for Indian students specifically while others are for international students in general. One may also go to the university websites directly to see the availability of scholarships for international students.

School Scholarship:
Institutional scholarships include Merit-based, Need-based, Work-Study, Teaching/Research, and Internship scholarships.

Government Scholarship (KGSP)
This type of scholarship is provided by the Korean government. KGSP provides students with 100% scholarship.

The requirements for this scholarship are:

1. Students are required to be foreign nationals. This scholarship does not apply to Korean Nationals.
2. Students are required to be in good physical and mental health.
3. For undergraduate courses students are required to be less than 25 years of age and for graduate courses, students are required to be less than 40 years of age.
4. Students are required to have a grade or GPA of 80% and above.
5. If students have already applied to another scholarship program in Korea then they are not allowed to apply to this scholarship.

ADMISSION PROCESS:

In Korea, the academic year starts in September and ends in June. Most Universities in Korea have admissions during the Spring Semester and the Fall semester. For international students however, there will be about the same number of students admitted in each semester because academic years of high schools in various countries end differently. So, you will have equal chance of admission in either semester.

Students are required to go through the following steps before they apply to a Korean University:

1. Choose a graduate program.
2. Know submission dates & deadlines.
3. Check requirements &egibility.
4. Prepare required documents.
5. File your application on time.
6. Pay the application fee.
7. Attend your interview if needed.
8. Check to see if you are accepted.
9. Register and pay tuition.

Standard Tests:
If students wish to make their applications stand out during graduate admissions, taking standardized tests such as the TOEFL, IELTS, TOPIK and KLAT with a good score will help significantly.

Language Proficiency Tests 
Korean Universities expect all international students to be proficient in English. Proficiency in Korean is not necessary, but they will have better opportunities to receive scholarships if they are proficient in Korean. Many universities require TOEFL or IELTS for English proficiency and TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) for Korean Proficiency.

Recommendation Letters and bank statements
To apply to Korean universities,recommendation letters are of utmost importance. Each school requires recommendation letters that inform the universities about the student’s capabilities. The number and type of recommendation letters differ from University to University.

Transcripts
Transcripts contain courses throughout high school, grades for each courses, and overall GPA. If students are applying for undergraduatecoursesa, many Korean universities only consider grades from 10th-12th year of high school, but some universities consider grades from 9th-12th year as well.

If students are applying for graduate courses, the transcript containing their GPA and all of the courses taken as an undergraduate student are required.
